Something about Donald Trump's presidential candidacy induces insanity in his opponents. I'm unfriending and blocking anti-Trump ranters on my Facebook account almost daily. The ranters can't just make their case, shut up and go away. They seem to be on a mission to repeat their rants hourly. Of course, on the Democratic side, the perfunctory (and now meaningless) accusation of "racism" dominates the ranting.
But, it's not just Democrats who are ranting endlessly about The Donald. For reasons I can't quite understand, a lot of Republicans are bitching that Trump represents a mortal threat to the purity and blessed conservatism of the GOP.
I could really give a shit about the Republican Party, even though I'm sure that most people familiar with my political ideas would assume that I vote Republican.
I'm trying to stay out of the ranting and fighting because... hell... life is good and what in the fuck good is it going to do me to duke it out online with a bunch of self important assholes who want to play the intellectual pundit?
There are few good political writers out there. Steve Sailer is the best, and I don't know how to classify him. He has a sense of humor and no political affiliations that I can fathom, although he calls himself, I think, a "race realist." This means that he acknowledges that people differ in IQ, interests, talent and achievements by racial, ethnic and national groupings. Sailer always maintains his humor and his wit and is not given to ranting. His speciality is pointing out the obvious in an era of almost universal public lies.
Those writers ranking below Sailer rank very far below him indeed. Fred Reed, a grumpy old ex pat living in Mexico can be either great or terrible, depending on how he feels on a particular day.
The amateur pundits roaming the web lack wit, style and humor, and don't seem to know how to stop repeating themselves. The anti-Trump ranters seem to think that hourly repetition is best.
I find Trump entertaining. I don't expect any politician to fix my life, because my life doesn't really need any fixing. It never did. Whatever adjustment my life needed, I always made of my own volition.
I'm always surprised when people tell me, as they often do, that their lives have been futile and unhappy. Not mine. My life has been a wild and marvelous adventure. Of course, there have been times of collapse and misery, but those times were passing phases. When I was young, I thought that the political climate had something to do with my current emotional state. But, as I gained the perspective of passing years, I realized that the political climate has been mostly irrelevant to my life and happiness.
The Republic will survive a Trump presidency. Hell, we might even prosper. I don't know if he can actually build a wall and secure our southern border, but it would be an admirable feat if he did. Trump will be an entertaining president. That's for sure. I'm willing to settle for that.
I think, along with Sailer, is Derb, who is always good, with humor, and courage. Vox Day is another regular stop for me.
Is it possible that, if you took your regular PC schnook, and made him read those three guys every day for a year, they would come out different on the other side? Maybe.

Derb is good. The majority of his stuff, however is delivered in podcast form. I don't really have the patience for that.

Derb publishes a transcript a couple of days after his podcast.
