This hymn is something of a rocker. I recorded it, and mixed it down, on my Zoom R24. Sang my own low harmony, too!
Shall We Gather at the River
Played this hymn on guitar at St. John’s this morning. I’m thinking I’ll start playing keyboards at St. John’s, because people feel more comfortable singing with a piano as a backup.
I’m still learning the R24. This time around, I learned how to bounce multiple tracks down to two stereo tracks and save them off to a zip drive. The zip drive, of course, plugs right into the USB port of my iMac.
Still haven’t really gotten a grip on how to assign FXs on a per track basis on the R24, so I applied an overall reverb FX on my iMac in a program called Soundbooth. I also cranked up the amplitude and applied an exciter mastering FX.
Computers, of course, feature lousy sound systems. I tried to master this tune so that, on average, it produced the best audio on computer speakers or over headphones. I’d advise listening to it over headphones. Computer speakers just don’t have much bass.
Next up for the R24… learning how to add a drum track and how to assign the internal FX.
