Monster is one of my 2-1/2 year old granddaughter's favorite games. We face off with our paws up and "Grr!" one another. Of course, a toddler also has some monster in her. For that matter, so do grandpas. Below, a pic of my inner monster.
My skills at drawing faces have really advanced. Now, I need to tackle bodies. Much more irregular shapes. I'm filling up my sketch books with pics of hands in various poses. Back to pencil after a long period of working entirely in ink.
The monster is coming out as sibling rivalry erupts. My beautiful granddaughter is so hurt by my attachment to the 5-1/2 month old twins. When I care for the twins in the same way that I cared for her, she often retreats to the corner to sob. She wants to be grandpa's one and only.
In a certain way, I wish she still was. Life presents us with these problems that cannot be solved. That brings out the monster in all of us.
