Jersey is justly famous for its diners. I stopped this morning for eggs sunny side up over corned beef hash, with home fries, whole wheat toast and coffee. The breakfast special even includes a small OJ! I've been stopping at Jersey diners in general, and at the Stateline Diner in particular, for decades.
Myrna and I loved stopping here on Friday nights on our way to our house in Woodstock from our apartment in Manhattan. My time with her was so romantic and glamorous! The Stateline does a damned good job with steak and potatoes, too! And, in the great tradition of Jersey diners, it also throws a ton of food at you... bread, salad, side dishes, etc.
I like many of the old fashioned sidecar style diners in Jersey, too.
The Stateliness is all new construction, circa about 1990. It's huge. On a Friday night or a Saturday morning, it's a great show. I've learned to really like Jersey.
After late night gigs with one band or another, the crew often stopped in the Stateline for breakfast at 4 a.m. Many happy and angry scenes, depending on the outcome of the gig, usually in Manhattan.
