The Theo Epstein era was launched in Mesa, Arizona, yesterday, when Cubs’ pitchers and catchers reported.
We’ve got a new manager, Dale Sveum. He’s promised that the team is going to run out ground balls! This is probably the key to ending the championship drought.
That’s Sveum in the middle in the pic above.
Epstein, the Cubs’ new general manager, is writing manuals on “The Cub Way” for distribution throughout the major and minor league systems.
2012 promises to be a throwaway year for the Cubs. Their advertising mantra is “Anything Can Happen!” True, but I’m not counting on a World Series.
Thank God, spring is just about here. Play ball!

In other news ....
NY Yankees dump AJ Burnett and are shoo in for ...
World Champion New York Yankess.
Oh ya.

Really, they finally got rid of Burnett?
I'll follow the Cubs until they're 25 games out, then switch my allegiance to the Yankees.
Should be about the beginning of August.

My dad (90) says this is THE YEAR. He says it every year. My mom would just roll her eyeballs. I paid for MLB audio to listen to Pat and Keith call the spring training games. I thought that Keith did a good job last year when he replaced Ron. Wish I were young. Wish Kerry Wood was stalking me on Facebook. Go Cubs!!!! Therese

My dad also waited his entire life for the Cubs to win it all.
Kerry is a stud, isn't he?

Epstein has set the course. He started by hiring Sveum, then went to work on the roster. Gone are Carlos Zambrano, Aramis Ramirez, Kosuke Fukudome and Carlos Pena. The only holdovers from the coaching staff are hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo, third-base coach Pat Listach and bullpen coach Lester Strode. The Cubs Convention in January wasn't just a chance for fans to see the new guys, but also the first time most of the staff met the players face to face.
