Gas stations must be squeezed into nooks and crannies in Manhattan. This one, on Hudson two blocks south of 14th Street, even has a convenience store wedged between two buildings. Gas… $2.79 a gallon. The store serves a clientele of taxi drivers and truckers. Click on the photo to see the full size version.
I’m thinking of photographing gas stations throughout Manhattan and Jersey. In Jersey, the stations and the convenience stores attached to them are palatial. In the Midwest, gas stations take up acres and sport huge signs erected a hundred feet above the ground. Next time I drive to Chicago (which I hope is soon), I’ll take some photos.
