This baby looks somewhat like the custom roadsters that dominate the rod and custom shows, although it is minus the flame treatment on the front quarter panels. The roof of this truck folds back into a compartment, transforming it into a convertible! Reviewers say that this vehicle has a “retro” look, with the rounded styling common to trucks of the 1940s and 50s. If you click on the picture, you’ll see that this retro car is parked in front of a shop that sells “Vintage Posters.” Nice juxtaposition, huh?
At the other end of the spectrum, I found this completely gutted car just around the corner from 6th Avenue on 19th Street. Apex Technical School brings in one of these from time to time for its automotive technician and auto body courses.
I find this completely stripped down hulk fascinating. Even the roof has been cut off. This junk heap serves the same purpose as a cadaver in medical school. A noble purpose, indeed.
