When I drive out of Manhattan through the Holland Tunnel, I pass by the Classic Car Club. The shop is tucked away into a small group of stores between the inbound and outbound lanes, a grimy, sooty wasteland.
My curiosity clicked into gear. Haven’t been down to the shop yet, but I visited their website. Check it out.
The Classic Car Club owns 21 classic luxury and performance cars, including a 1988 Porsche 911 and a 1989 Ferrari 348 GTB (pictured above). Basic membership in the club costs $7,000 a year, plus a $1,500 initiation fee. This buys you 750 point to spend on the cars. Taking out that Ferrari for a spin for the weekend will cost you 144 points, or roughly $1,343.52 plus tax and gas. Be careful with that 312 horsepower engine!
The links section of the website connects you to the world of the super rich. Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz?
