Women and Minorities Hardest Hit!
My favorite parody of the bizarre “Me First!” attitude of feminists has long been the Onion headline: “World Comes to an End! Women and Minorities Hardest Hit!” (Well, that’s pretty close. I didn’t actually look it up.)
This story, brought to me by Yahoo, repeats the joke with a straight face: “Three times as many women as men died in tsunami: report.” Down in the fine print we discover that this is simply an assertion by the Global Fund for Women, which admits:
“The precise number of women who died in the Asian tsunami has not been established as government statistics were not separated by gender, the foundation said, adding that its estimates were based on the sex of survivors.”
How, exactly, a tsunami was able to discriminate against women… who can say? Perhaps, this is the same phenomenon that prompted President Bush to exacerbate global warming, thus causing Hurricane Katrina, in an apparent attempt to murder every black person in New Orleans. (Wait a minute... Michelle Malkin reports that blacks accounted for 48% of the deaths from the hurricane, despite the fact that 67% of the residents of New Orleans were black.)
Although this hardly needs to be stated, the Global Fund for Women is a feminist advocacy group located in San Francisco. By now, I think that we are all aware of the media practice of publishing press releases from such groups as if those releases contained any hard information. You’ve got to wonder, in this case, why any news organization would publish this hilarious drivel.
And, yes, your tax dollars support the noxious knuckleheads at the Global Fund for Women. Go figure.
